讲座内容简介：

While traditional descriptive fields of biology have discovered much of the patterns of life on earth, a comparative approach is needed to understand the underlying mechanisms and processes that have shaped these patterns. The rebirth of phylogenetics and the maturation of its methodology since the 60s through 80s of the last century have made tree thinking a unifying  theme in current biology. Using the wasp superfamily Cynipoidea as an example, the seminar will showcase how phylogenetic studies on the group in the last three decades, using morphology, molecular data, as well as fossil materials, have established an natural framework for future systematic studies and provided insight into the evolution of some fascinating life history strategies of these wasps, including host specificity, gall formation, inquilinism, and parasitism.

讲座人简介：

        刘志伟，美国东伊利诺伊老员工物学系教授。主要研究领域是昆虫的系统分类，研究方向包括膜翅目和直翅目的形态与分子鉴定，现有昆虫分类系统的订正等。以第一作者或通讯作者在Annals of the Entomological Society of America，Systematic Entomology，Molecular Ecology Resources，Insect Science，Zootaxa 等杂志发表SCI论文50余篇。参与编著了多本昆虫分类学专著。现任Society for the Study of Evolution，The Orthopterists' Society，Entomological Society of North America的专业评审。担任Cladistics，Annals of the Entomological Society of America，Conservation Genetics，Insect Systematics and Evolution，Systematic Entomology，Zootaxa等20余种的动物学专业杂志审稿人。
